Gerald Shepherd: An Apple Thinks Of Gravity (Theme Then Eclipses)

My work in the early to middle Eighties consisted mainly of very complex sequential drawings done in pencil on acrylic primed panels.  I then covered the pencil lines with a layer of acrylic medium/varnish – unfortunately I put the medium on too thick on some of the drawings (so that it would not smudge the pencil lines) and it has gone yellow.  However many works were not affected including the one pictured below.

This is a fairly typical picture from this period with a progression of images starting from the centre themes – moving right to left on the left hand side and left to right on the other – hence the arrows!
