Gerald Shepherd: Paintings From Childhood Photographs

At the same time as I was working on the set of A4 pictures I highlighted in my last post I also completed this set of three works.  Two are derived from photographs taken from my bedroom window in the house I spent the latter part of my childhood in – the first part was spent in a run down thatched tied cottage in a remote hillside hamlet (the happiest days of my life!).  The second house was in a modern housing estate albeit still out in the countryside.  The third painting was based on a photo from a train carriage window travelling at speed towards London Waterloo.
