Gerald Shepherd: Landscape Evocations

This is a set of paintings based on a destroyed painting completed in 1976.  They are all done in my Manfred Wing style.  He is a character I invented  (remembering very little about me is real) who paints and appears in some of my stories – he works in a slightly naive surrealistic style which I came to by mixing Picasso, Chagall and Dali in the middle Seventies.

Gerald Shepherd: Pink, Orange And Grey

Some time ago now (probably 2005) a young friend asked me to paint a picture using mainly pink, orange and grey.  She was rather dreamy but bright, girly and frothy and above all  decidedly zany and I wanted to reflect this is in the work – or as it turned out works.  I did a series of small paintings and then did further pictures exploring some of the ideas I generated in the first set.  Most of them are presented here.
